Børge Mogensen
A Pioneer of Danish Design
Børge Mogensen (1914–1972) was a leading figure in Danish furniture design, shaping modern Danish interiors with timeless creations. His designs, from the iconic FDB furniture of the 1940s to enduring classics, have graced homes and public spaces across Denmark since World War II.
Guided by the principle that furniture should fit people, not the other way around, Mogensen championed functional, high-quality designs. His work is characterised by simple lines, solid wood craftsmanship, and soft, durable materials like shell cordovan leather – modern design rooted in tradition and built to last.
Jørgen Bækmark
Master of Harmony and Comfort
Jørgen Bækmark (1929–2021) was a defining figure in Danish furniture design, leaving a legacy of timeless creations. As design director of FDB Møbler from 1958 to 1967, he played a pivotal role in making high-quality design furniture accessible to everyday people.
Rooted in Danish design traditions, Bækmark’s work is distinguished by its elegant simplicity, meticulous craftsmanship, and attention to the finest details. His iconic dining chairs, the J80 and J81, exemplify the harmony and balance that define his furniture. Above all, Bækmark prioritised comfort, a hallmark of his designs that endures to this day.
